Kolkata Mayor’s aide accused of misusing Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s name

A police complaint has been filed against Kalicharan Banerjee, the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, for allegedly misusing the name of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee, sources told India Today TV.
According to sources, the allegations against Kalicharan are that he had used the name of the TMC General Secretary to dupe people.
The office of Abhishek Bannerjee too received multiple complaints against Kalicharan Bannerjee, the sources added.
No FIR has been registered in the matter, despite a complaint being filed by Abhishek Banerjee’s office at the Shakespeare Sarani Police Station.
Sources said that no information was immediately available as to how exactly Kalicharan Banerjee misused the TMC MP’s name and what his aim was by doing that.
Meanwhile, Firhad Hakim reacted to the allegations against his OSD and said he was not aware of this development. “I have never heard anything like this. I could have been informed about these complaints”, said Hakim.
This is the second instance in two months that a person has been accused of misusing Abhishek Banerjee’s name.
On August 30, Kolkata Police arrested a man for allegedly duping a businessman in the city by forging the letterhead of Abhishek Banerjee.
According to police, the accused defrauded a businessman in Kolkata to the tune of Rs 25 lakh by forging the official letterhead of Abhishek Banerjee and higher officials of the West Bengal government.
